National parks located around the world. In Guatemala to be rather few environmental areas, but each of them truly unique. National parks of Tikal, Rio Dulce, Quirigua and Atitlan are not only involved in protection of natural systems, but also to store on its territory a huge number of historical monuments remaining from the ancient cultures of pre-Columbian America.
TIC al is one of the largest Mayan sites, the capital Motulski, the Kingdom. Situated in the province El petén, Guatemala. An Indian village existed from the VII century BC In V — IX centuries BC the city of PE-DIL among the main centers of the Mayan culture. Researchers estimate that the population at this time ranged from 100 to 200 thousand people. By the end of the X century, after a series of uprisings, the city was finally abandoned by the inhabitants. Name Tik al in the Mayan language means "place where the voices of the spirits." In hieroglyphic inscriptions mention the more ancient name of the city Yax-Motul — "green bundle".
TIC al and the surrounding area was included by the government of Guatemala in a single-owned national Park. In 1979, the national Park is included in the world heritage list of UNESCO.
