I. Перепишите следующие предложения. Подчеркните в них слова, оформленные окончанием –s, и определите по грамматическим признакам, какой частью речи являются эти слова и какую функцию выполняет это окончание, то есть служит ли оно:

2. The President’s Cabinet consists of the Secretaries.
3. The Supreme Court watches over the other two branches.
II. Перепишите следующие предложения, найдите и подчеркните в них группу имени существительного. Переведите предложения на русский язык, обращая внимание на особенности перевода определений, выраженных именем существительным.

3. The students of the law department will study Roman law, because it is the basis on the laws of most European countries.

1. Great Britain is a monarchy. But the Queen’s power is not absolute, it is constitutional.
2. The Queen’s power is hereditary and not elective. In practice the Monarch has no actual power: they say that the Monarch reigns but doesn’t rule.
3. All the affairs of the state are conducted in the name of the Queen. The Queen summons and dissolves Parliament. Normally she opens each session of Parliament with a throne speech. She appoints all important state offices: judges, officers of the armed forces, diplomats. The Queen has the power to conclude treaties, to declare war, to make peace. She signs all state documents.
4. The Queen has her own Privy Council. The Cabinet developed from this Council. The Privy Council consists of members of the Royal family, the archbishops, colonial governors and senior ministers. The committee of the Privy Council, the Judicial Committee is the final court of appeal for the British – a Royal court.
